The past few weeks have been a little bit of a whirlwind, but in a good way! Last month we closed our church plant down (that part was really sad though) and we are now praying about where God would have us go next. It’s very possible that we stay in California, but I also know that when it comes to long term planning it is tough to imagine living here. Cali is so expensive and although I would completely consider myself a California girl, and our family LOVES it here, I also am having to come to terms that it might make a lot more sense for us to move.

Last week Matt flew to Nashville to check out a church that might be wanting to hire him. While he was there I asked on my Facebook page what people thought of Nashville and there was not one negative comment. That really tugs on my heart. If I’m going to have to leave Cali, a place I love so much, then it might be a bit easier or take some of the sting off if we end up somewhere that other people love so much.

Next weekend he’ll fly to San Antonio to check out another church. Now, when I mention San Antonio to people there seems to be mixed reviews. Some think it’s amazing and others just give a blank stare….I think the jury is still out on that one, but honestly I just don’t know much about it. I’ve only been there once, and it was a LONG time ago….I have very few memories to draw from about the actual city itself. I’ll put it out there now just in case but if any of you have feedback about living in TX, more specifically the San Antonio area I’d love to hear your perspective.

This season of travel and exploring new possibilities has a lot of exciting things to it. We are taking it one thing at a time, one opportunity at a time and are enjoying talking through where Matt is at, what he sees himself doing, where he could thrive and how he might use the gifts he has in preaching, leading and serving the church.

But I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t tough at times too. If I’m honest I wonder if he’ll find an amazing position somewhere that’ll be a struggle (as far as location) for me/the family to move to. Or worse still…we’ll pick a location based on where the family would love but Matt won’t thrive in the role/job/position. We are praying that one of these options will begin to rise above the others as a good fit for the whole family. Thankfully we aren’t in a hurry and we are really waiting on the Lord to direct and lead us.

On a side note, this little romper I wore in Vegas has turned out to be one of the most worn, most versatile outfits I’ve bought in a long time! I wore it on a date night with some tall wedges, to the pool as a swim coverup, here in these photos with a hat for our last day wanderings around Mandalay Bay and also in the car for our road trip back home from Vegas to CA. It’s unbelievably comfortable, doesn’t fall off my shoulders and the fit is perfect. Mine is a size XS and I’m 5’4 in case you needed help with what to order…I get that sometimes the pics online make it tough to gauge.

And these shoes. I’d never heard of Superga before oh my word I love them! I normally live in running shoes (or flip flops) but sometimes an outfit like this needs something a little less clunky. I added my own insoles in the bottom and they were perfect for how much we walked around that day. Not one blister!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! And if you have any info/feedback on the San Antonio area and whether or not you feel our family would enjoy living there please let me know!

P.S. Homeschooling mamas….if you’re out there and you happen to read this…I’ve got books on the way and extra curriculars all planned out…but I’m curious if you all have tips for giving kids their lessons each day? I’ve got some planners that I purchased for each child, but how far out do you give them their lesson plans? Meaning, should I set them up each night for the following day or plan out a week in advance? Any further than that and I’m afraid it’ll all be messed up when we have a day that doesn’t go as planned. Would love your thoughts. This year has to go better than last year!!! 😉

letter M logo   Last week I flew to Houston, TX for the Lee Labrada Classic and then drove to Austin for a massive jam-packed photo shoot with Jamie Eason and the two other Lean Body For Her teammates. We were pampered and spoiled and over the course of 4 days wore no less than 100 different outfits! I never in my life would have dreamed I could have been a model for anything.  I’m only 5’4 and I kept pinching myself the entire weekend that I was even there! The Lean Body team wants to promote fitness with class…meaning not the normal kind of booty showin’, bare bodied, sex appeal that most fitness companies do. I’ve been a part of the Lean Body team for 2 years now and have picked up on some of the values here and there…but being there, meeting everyone face to face and hearing the goals and the heart of the company in person was absolutely amazing. I’m sure I’ll be sharing a ton more as the weeks and months go on…but I just wanted to say I’m so honored to be a part of the Labrada family.

.

After Austin I flew to Vegas and met up with my fam for a vacation. Matt drove ALL of the kids from Cali to Vegas by himself! I couldn’t believe he offered to do that but he really wanted me to get to be in TX. He and the kids so great! My mom booked a time share and my sister & her husband and my brother & his fam all joined us. I loved getting to sleep in the same place with sleeping bags on the floor and stuffed animals everywhere…seriously, I think we had about 50 stuffed animals with us!

.

Our kids are notorious for losing their swim goggles, which meant everyone was sharing and a few of the boys ended up wearing pink goggles and borrowing adult goggles that were far too big for their faces. Crew finally feels more comfortable with swimming and seeing him jump in and literally scream his head off with excitement had us all giggling.

.

Matt and I went to a night club for a date night out. As in a legit night club. When we first got married he told me he hated dancing, so we really just never did, aside from our wedding dance that is. But for whatever reason (maybe making the solo drive to Vegas gave him an added boost of bravery) he actually agreed to go with me and my brother/sister in law to this club. It was probably the most unlikely place you would have guessed we would be in…but once we got on the packed dance floor it was as if no one else was there. We had the best time and keep talking about how thankful we are that we are married and don’t have to date anymore! It was so obvious that every single person was on the prowl…and we loved being reminded that we don’t have to question who it is we want to spend our lives with. We were also joking that if this club only knew I was a pastor’s wife, mom of five, homeschooler, Christian blogger that they’d never have let us in! 🙂 But thanks to “Romeo” who got us all on the guest list and never asked any of those questions.

.

We took the kids to the Excalibur for the Medieval Times show. We sat in the Austria section and they served the food during the show. But to keep with the “theme” they serve food without any utensils. One kiddo, out of the five, really got into it and ate his chicken right off the bone while grunting like caveman. 🙂 But the others just looked at me funny and refused to touch it…and it was then that I knew we’d be giving them cereal for dinner after the show was over! The show was amazing though! The sword fights and horses, the explosions, and the lights! The kids loved it all! Especially when a horse pooped right in front of the kids and they spent the remainder of the show trying to guess which performer was going to accidentally step in it.

.

We made so many memories playing 14 rounds of mini golf, trying sodas from all over the world, playing family games until 2 am, eating far too much at Steak ‘n Shake, the lazy river at Mandalay, the frequent Starbucks runs to keep us going, playing duck duck goose every morning around the breakfast table, seeing the sharks at the aquarium and riding escalators a gazillion times over in every hotel! (more pics of all our adventures coming later this week!) signature xo meg

This dress I have on was from Marshalls. The name on the tag is Style Envy and it’s a size S. I’ve tried to find it for you online but I haven’t been able to yet.  I’ll update here if I do come across the exact one, but I’ve also linked a few super cute similar options below as well.

polka dot maxi & learning to lay it down

abide | meg marie | a word for the year 2017

We are still in the throws of house hunting and now that spring is here it’s becoming more and more of a sellers market. Houses move fast and the prices are still so incredibly discouraging which has made us rethink a lot lately about what we are realistically able to look for.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

The dream/hope of finding the perfect house is diminishing fast. Don’t get me wrong, I never intended to find ‘perfect’ as in there’s nothing wrong and everything is spectacular, but I did mean perfect in the sense that we would walk into a place and right away feel like we belonged there.

It’s just not happening.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

I know we could keep holding out, we could continue to be patient. But at this point I really believe that isn’t what is best, for my heart or our little church.

Last Tuesday we put an offer on a house we weren’t crazy about. Only to have found out four other people also did the same thing that day. Our offer was countered last night but for a price that is far more than what we are willing to pay.

We have no desire to be “house poor” by dumping every extra penny we have into a house. So when the paperwork came back we knew right away that door was closing.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

I wasn’t too sad because another home popped up in our email that was listed just yesterday morning. We loaded the kids up once again to go see and when I walked in I thought it was that perfect I’d been hunting for in so many ways.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

I could tell my heart was pulling me.

I want that kind of home.

I wanted so badly for that one to be “the one”.

Within seconds of stepping through the front door I began to imagine life there and where I’d put each piece of furniture. The kids started playing hide and seek (don’t worry, it was empty) and I imagined playing hundreds more games in that sweet space.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

But it too was priced over the budget we feel comfortable spending.

The answer is no.

We are back to square one.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

As we drove home I felt angry.

And hopeless.

I feel like this process is one of truly laying down every desire we have in what we’d ask for or dream of in a home. It’s tempting to just shut off my heart and simply go with the facts and pick something just because of what is practical.

I am having trouble believing that there is something out there for us that we could truly love.

But if I’m honest what’s even harder is that nights like that night I wonder if He even still remembers us.

black and white polka dot maxi

I write often about making a home wherever we are no matter how small, how old or how run down a place is, about finding my hope not in the material things that life can offer, and how the dream of planting this church supersedes my desire to find a home I love…not because I’ve arrived in some way.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

I write because I know my heart is weak. It can often deceive me.

I long for a home. A place to call ours. I’ve hoped for that for as long as I could remember.

Since I was a little girl.

I want to settle in somewhere and know I get to stay.

But I need to continually remember throughout this process my deepest convictions and where my heart truly rests.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

My desires cannot be found in any home, however lovely or however perfect. My desire is to move into this city and exhaust my life for the sake of whoever comes across my path.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

What that means practically is we now want to just focus on living in the same city we are planting this church in. We need to do whatever is necessary to develop relationships in and among the community where we live. Our current situation of “commuting in” isn’t working for anybody.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

I want to be hospitable not because I have a house I’m proud of but because I am far more concerned about people and souls, than stuff.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

I want to live in and among the broken and intentionally seek out the lost…developing relationships and friendships that are life giving…rather than worrying about what color my carpet is.

I desire my life to be light and a blessing wherever the Lord places us no matter old the kitchen feels is or how ugly the paint is.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

This is a journey for sure and last night served as another huge fork in the road for me: will I grow distant and hard hearted believing the lie that He isn’t concerned for us?

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

Or will I remain steadfast, looking to Him alone to satisfy?

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

Through tears and with a heavy soberness I say: my hope and my home is found in Christ alone and today I choose to rest, trust and draw near.

black and white polka dot maxi; spring; love this; maxi dress

Thankfully, His steadfast love never ends and His mercies are new every morning.

My soul continually remembers and is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,“therefore I will hope in him.”

24 things you didn't know about us

This is the week I would normally be posting some cute gift idea for you moms to make for your kids to spoil them rotten for V-day, but seeing as I haven’t even thought about getting around to that yet (and so the list begins for my mom fails of 2017)…I decided to share with you some fun facts about us. 🙂

First let me just say that Kate’s dress was a dream come true for her. She had been begging me to let her dress up fancy again for some photos and this one was picked out by her for our Christmas photos…but it didn’t come in time. She was so bummed….but I had promised I’d make it up to her! So she’ll be using it for a super fancy surprise daddy/date night soon! meg marie wallace; fun facts

1. Matt and I both have nicknames for one another that we’ve used from when we were dating…he calls me “lady” and I call him “Mr.”

2. We love comedy…like a lot…it’s one of our favorite thing to watch together. Sometimes I laugh so hard the tears running down my face make it so I can’t see anymore…and he’ll have to push pause until I can get it together. And then that only makes me laugh harder.

3. We always, always greet one another and say goodbye to one another. Even if we’re mad we still will always say hello and goodbye.

4. We both have a MASSIVE sweet tooth…and we are very picky about our desserts. We both love chocolate way more than fruity…and Matt is absolutely convinced that fruit should never be warm.

5. Matt loves to surprise me with things, which I also love a TON…but he gets so strange about stuff that I can totally tell when he’s lying…but I play along anyway…(and he just saw I wrote that and swears I can’t tell….hahahaha….oh honey, yep, yep you’re right…I have NO idea what you’re up to…)

6. I rarely ever order food at restaurants. He always picks better things off the menu and I used to just steal all of his meal…so most of the time now I don’t even look at it…I know he’ll do a better job getting me what I want than I will.

7. Neither one of us can sleep when the other is out of town. We come up with a thousand other things to do so we don’t have to go to bed without the other.

8. When we were first married Matt taught me how to cook. He’s the best at looking around for random ingredients and coming up with some gourmet meal…except for that one time he accidentally added cumin instead of cinnamon in his homemade cinnamon rolls…and then stared at me like a total weirdo while I took my first bite to see if I’d notice…and then when I told him I thought something was “off” he tried to convince me it was all just in my head…

9. Matt lets me pick out his clothes. It took me two full years into our marriage to gently convince him that he was horrible at dressing himself and now he’s actually much better at it…but he should never ever ever ever ever pick out mine. No really…never.

10. I have not put gas in my car for about a decade…or maybe longer. There was one time recently when I had to and I about had a panic attack trying to remember how to open my gas can. He says that he likes taking such good care of me that I wouldn’t know how to do it.

11. Matt swears he can’t iron…as in, he tells me that he doesn’t know how…and then when I offer to “teach” him he winks and says, “well, I’m sure you’d do a much better job of it than me…” I know without a shadow of a doubt that he’s lying right out of that cute, sparkly blue eyed face, but I just smile and say, “ohhhhh ya I’m suuuure I’d do a better job…why don’t I take care of that for you”…while rolling my eyes…

12. If we ever get coffee or a mocha…or hot chocolate…Matt will (seemingly without even thinking about it anymore) take it from my hand and take the first sip. He will then give me a number…which means that’s how many minutes I should wait until it will be at my ideal temperature.

13. Matt loves lemon in his water but hates straws. I love straws and hate lemon. Whenever we are in a restaurant together you will always find his glass with 2 lemons and mine with 2 straws.

14. Matt only wanted 2 kids…………….hahahahahahahahahhahhahahaha

15. I will wait, for hours or even days if he’s out of town, for him to unclog a stuck toilet…I won’t do it…ever ever ever again…one time I tried…and it didn’t work…and that quickly became one of the worst day of my life.

16. We both love to cuddle. A lot.

17. And we flirt non-stop…as in all day long…unless we are in a fight and then there’s absolutely no flirting aloud…but sometimes he’ll try to throw some little comment right there in the middle of a fight, sort of like a grenade, to test me to see just how mad I am. Sometimes that bomb blows up in his face and other times it completley derails the fight and we both start laughing…but that’s a risky one, huh babe?!

18. We work out at the gym together almost every day. Fellow gym members will ask what’s wrong if the other isn’t there.

19. We can have entire conversations using only movie quotes.

20. Matt often rubs my feet before bed…with essential oils even! And he makes sure I close my eyes before he turns out the light because he knows how much I love his face being the last thing I see before I go to sleep.

21. We fall asleep every night holding hands.

22. It is sometimes really hard to get dates nowadays…because we birthed a small army of little people and it can be a challenge to find sitters…but we do a pretty good job of having “stay dates”. We love coming up with fun ways to spend an evening together.

23. Matt is my personal airbrush spray tan man.  Nope, not kidding one bit. Ahhhh!!!! How can you not love this guy with what he’s willing to do for me??? I plan to blog ALL about this soon because I get asked all the time about how I stay tan year round…but I owe my amazing California-glow to my sweet hubby. (I’ll also share about the many hilarious disasters before he became so skilled at it!)

24. He still, without fail, opens every door for me, holds his hand out whenever I get out of the car and intentionally walks with his body closest to the street to make sure I’m not the nearest to the cars. My perfect gentleman.

That’s it for now! I would LOVE to hear what makes up you and your husband’s unique story!!! Comment below and share something sweet or something funny! love Meg Marie signature

This dress is so pretty and I plan to wear it for a wedding we are going to in March, but I thought it’d be fun to find another excuse to put it on! The off the shoulder look is perfect for hair up or down so I chose to do a messy bun to show off that pretty lace detail. I kind of wish I’d worn some bright red lipstick or something to make it more Valentine-y but I’m honestly still on the hunt for the perfect red…so let me know if you have any suggestions!

My kids are very close together in age. For many months I had three kids in diapers and I thought the day would never come when I wouldn’t be changing at least a dozen a day. I am now just recently in a new season where there is no longer an infant in the house and ALL of my kids are out of diapers!
Baby products and supplies are not quite what I need anymore…but having five kids doesn’t exactly mean I travel light these days either. Each stage and each season requires a new way of packing up. (Although, I honestly believe I will carry baby wipes with me for forever, ‘cuz they pretty much fix anything.)
I no longer carry pacifiers, but I sure do need a first aide kit with me at all times. With four young boys I’ll leave it to your imagination how often one, two or ALL of them get hurt. I love to carry a small bag of snacks for on the go emergencies, for me and for them. I’ve always got the kids’ and my water bottles with me. I have about 3 pairs of sunglasses, mainly because I forget I already packed them, they break SO often, and at least 2 packs of gum, because they ALL chew gum now too! I have a small bag of meds just in case, sunscreen for when we stop off at the beach, chapstick because I refuse to go anywhere without it, my headphones for when I’m headed to the gym, and of course my wallet.
This bag is perfect for not only any and all life stages but for the quick changes that happen throughout my normal day. The removable insert with all of the kids “stuff” in it can easily be removed as I drop them at the gym, run a quick errand, or leave a few items with a sitter. I am then able to take just the purse with me. The strap converts the bag 3 different ways for convenient carrying…or indecisive styling…which, in my case, it’s both! 🙂  And quite honestly, I just absolutely love that it doesn’t look like a diaper bag.

“How It All Began”:

When Meggan Wood’s oldest daughter, Caroline, was born, Meggan found herself frustrated by the lack of beautiful, quality bags for moms with kids. She wanted a bag that was gorgeous AND hardworking, and one that wasn’t just for women with small children.

After Meggan’s second daughter, Madeline, was born, Meggan sketched out her idea of the perfect bag, and Lily Jade was born. The real genius behind Meggan’s idea is a removable, washable, 16-pocket organization insert that’s included with every full-size Lily Jade. The insert allows mommies to move from diaper duty, to meetings, to girl’s nights. Lily Jade bags feature details like backpack-wear options, premium full grain leather, and thoughtfully designed hardware and pockets.

  • Lily Jade bags are incredible values. Normally, full grain leather premium totes would retail for hundreds more, but because of their unique e-commerce model they are able to get gorgeous pieces into even more women’s hands for less
  • Lily Jade’s most popular styles can be worn three ways: 1. Over the shoulder 2. Crossbody 3. As backpacks
  • Every Lily Jade bag comes with a removable, washable 16-pocket organizer to protect your investment, and to organize your gear

This past weekend we decided to leave our phones at home and simply be together as a family. I was really surprised at how often I thought about my phone and how many times I caught myself thinking about checking something, or looking something up.

I don’t believe in any way that technology should be abandoned or that it is evil in and of itself, but I do believe that I sometimes give it a place in my life that it shouldn’t have.

When I allow good things to become consuming things they become bad things.

Once I got through the initial separation detox from our devices I absolutely loved getting to play! We played tag, went down some slides, ate lunch, built a sand man and we weren’t worried about the time at all.

Matt and I used to play frisbee in the park by our tiny apartment when we were first married. I couldn’t throw one worth a lick, but he patiently and persistently taught me. Every chance we got we would go out a throw together….and it’s still one of our absolute favorite things to do together. It blows my mind that we can be doing the same activity but now with five little persons running between our throws. I never would have imagined this to be my life-thank you Jesus for the gift my family is!!!

This suit is one of my new favorites and it’s on SALE right now!!!!!  I love a good one piece and I love the feminine straps. This suit fits great, and feels sporty and girly all at the same time. My boys are super picky about what I wear and finding suits that I love that were picked out by my young men is such fun!

Since most people I know are in a similar boat as me in the fashion realm of trying to look cute and not break the bank I’ve decided so answer some of the most common questions I am asked about my own wardrobe. Being married to a pastor and a momma to five littles money is not free flowing toward my fashion desires these days, so getting creative is an absolute.

Q: How Often Do You Shop?

Not very. Unless you define “shopping” as looking around for good deals, looking around for styles that really stand out to me, or comparing prices and searching online for styles I love. But shopping does not always mean buying. I wait until I find items or things I absolutely love before I buy.

Q: Where Do You Buy Your Clothes?

The days of casually strolling through shops on my own are extinct, so, the majority of my shopping is now on the internet. I love online boutiques and stores that have trendy styles, but are still really inexpensive. I try to always link items that I have so that you can get an idea of where things are coming from.

Q: What Kind Of Items Do You Buy?

I now have to be super creative with looking for things that I want verses things I need. I get ideas from social media, billboards, magazines, friends or even strangers and then think through items I already own that would look similar. I shop around online to find the best deals I possibly can and then add it to my “wish list.” This is the same process for any style I wear…athletic, street, church, date night, causal etc…

Q: What Is Your Favorite Thing To Shop For?

Practical, versatile, and comfortable. I love styles that I don’t feel like I want to change out of them the second I get home. And styles that are good for multiple parts of my life like going to volunteer at the kids’ school, heading off to the grocery, going out to lunch with a friend, and then back home for homework and cooking dinner. I strongly dislike having to change 3 times a day so I avoid it as much as I can.

Q: Do You Buy Brand Name or Generic?

Both. I love to mix the two. Sure, if I had all the money in the world maybe I’d buy more name brand, but that is never ever going to happen!  As I think through different outfits and what makes each style stand out to me it is different every time. A name brand pair of boots with some generic leggings, or a name brand top with some cut up cheapy jeans, or a name brand pair of wide leg pants with a t-shirt from target…it’s always a blend of both for me.

But, I never buy generic running shoes. I just can’t. I log a lot of miles in my shoes so they need to hold up. And there’s just some things that should never be generic! Like mayonnaise:)

Q: How Do You Update An Old Look To Make It Trendy?

Pairings and shoe styles matter the most.  I heard on the radio this past week that the first thing people notice about the opposite gender is their shoes. I’m not sure if that’s true or not, but I do agree that shoes matter.
The thing about fashion is that it is always changing. And that’s the whole point of fashion…those who sell it will always make money because it is always being adjusted and updated. But much of what I have owned for years can be worn in new trendy ways if styled differently or are paired with a trendy up-to-date shoes.

The clothes I’m wearing in these photos are things I have had for years! No, I’m not kidding…that sweater may have been one of my all time most used purchases! 🙂 The shoes and jewelry are new and I’ve never worn these particular items together in this way so it all “feels” new to me.

**One Final Tip: Share with and borrow from friends!

In college I used to live in a sorority house with over 100 other girls. If any of us needed something we didn’t have we would borrow from one another!  If you’ve got some friends that love to dress in a similar way don’t be afraid to speak up and either ask to borrow something or set up a clothes swap where you can trade items.

How, when, where do you shop? Do you have any shopping-on-the-cheap advice you can share that we can all learn from too?

Last month was our 14th wedding anniversary! I cannot believe it’s been that long! I thought I’d share just a couple of my favorite pics from our night out together. And a little bonus photo down below of what most of my pics look really like! 🙂

We went to eat at a restaurant in Orange, CA that overlooked the entire county! We could see the lights and the water and even the Disney fireworks show that happens every night at 9pm! It was perfect weather that night and the food was amazing!

One of my favorite things to do each year on our anniversary is to remember all of the details that we can from the day we got married. From getting ready to me feeling so nervous I thought I might throw up, finding out someone had forgotten the flowers, to the sweet note given to me by my love just before I walked down the isle, the candles melting far too fast resulting in the stage being lit on fire (uh, ya, that really happened)…to Matt’s cousin almost passing out…to our first kiss as a married couple…and the reception we never got to sit down at, the toasts that lasted forever, my brother our DJ, my sisters crazy hair, our first dance, the awkward and slightly inappropriate dancing (caught on video) of some of the guests…and the kid that wanted a “souvenir” from our wedding and decided to reach into my nicely fixed hair to steal a bobby pin from my up-do…yes, I’ll calling you out Dillon Ford!!!!! 🙂 Our borrowed getaway car that the owner wanted returned that very night (c’mon, really????)…having to drop off that car absolutely exhausted and then finally getting to our room not having eaten anything at all!!!! We still laugh at how we literally considered driving through McDonalds in our wedding attire because we were starving…

There were so many things that went wrong, that weren’t ideal or that we would for SURE change if we could do it all over again. But we look back now and realize that some of our most favorite memories from our wedding day are the ones that didn’t go right! Isn’t it funny how life works like that? The things that horrify us now become some of the most treasured memories.

Remembering the imperfections from our wedding day give me perspective of how to deal with the here and now. I know that the things that get to me now will one day be a gold mine of memories…the messy house, the dishes in the sink, the laundry that never ever ended, the crazy kids and the volume inside our home, the forgotten tasks and the silly fights we all get into…one day we will look back and cherish it all.

So today, I am going to choose to lighten up…I’m not even going to edit this post before I publish it. I’m not going to fret about the toys on the floor or the fact that I haven’t yet showered for the day. I’m now going to rush over to the kids school and after that probably wander around Target for a bit while I neglect my real  “to-do” list… Happy Tuesday everyone!

This kiddo cracks me up! He decided to dress himself today and he put on soccer shorts, a bright orange shirt and snow boots!  I couldn’t resist putting him with me in these pics! His ‘get-up’ and his lil snack cup in hand are just the cutest! Almost every day he brings me a flower…which really just means that since I just admitted that I now have to publicly apologize to my neighbors because most days their from your front yards! I’m sorry!

And can you tell that he put the tie strings from the shorts are up and around his head?! Love love love it! When I asked him if that was on purpose he said to me, “FOR SURE! I like it like that mom!”

Me too Buddy, me too.

2016 Swim

I’ve compiled a list of some of my FAVorite swimsuits for this season! My suggestions are all a bit on the modest side (my apologies if you’re into bikinis!) and are less than $100. I want them all!!!! It’s so hard to pick just one…or two…or three. Seriously, I have a problem when it comes to buying swimsuits…
